Analisa Pemanfaatan Kembali Brine (Limbah Hasil Pengolahan Desalinasi Air Laut) sebagai Langkah Minimalisasi Pencemaran Sebelum Dibuang ke Badan Air

Abstract

Kelangkaan air adalah kekhawatiran yang saat ini menjadi isu terkini di seluruh dunia, tetapi sedikit yang diketahui dan yang peduli tentang bagaimana hal itu berkembang dari waktu ke waktu. Kelangkaan air global didorong oleh masalah kuantitas dan kualitas air, serta teknologi untuk mengurangi jumlah orang yang menderita kelangkaan air sebagai kebutuhan mendesak. Tujuan dari makalah ini adalah untuk memberikan informasi tentang bagaimana meminimalisir limbah brine yang menjadi hasil samping dari instalasi pengolahan air laut (desalinasi). Makalah ini dilakukan dengan cara menganalisis beberapa makalah sebelumnya tentang analisa pemanfaatan kembali brine kemudian oleh penulis diolah kembali dengan menambahkan beberapa poin minimalisasi limbah dan pemanfaatan kembali. Berdasarkan hasil analisis studi, hasil samping instalasi pengolahan air berbasis desalinasi yaitu brine, sebelum dibuang ke badan air dapat diolah kembali antara lain menjadi soda kaustik untuk keperluan kimia, dapat diaplikasikan pada lahan untuk irigasi dan tujuan pertanian, lalu untuk industri penerbangan untuk tujuan de-icing pada saat musim dingin serta digunakan oleh pembangkit listrik, kilang minyak, pabrik kimia, dan fasilitas lainnya yang sering membutuhkan konsumsi air dalam jumlah besar. Berdasarkan hasil analisa tersebut, dapat disimpulkan bahwa brine sebagai produk hasil samping dapat dimanfaatkan menjadi beberapa produk lainnya untuk meminimalisir limbah sebelum dibuang ke badan air.
